• Type 1 Ho-Ni I saw combat in the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines in 1945 with the 2nd Tank Division
• They faced US forces armed with Sherman tanks, and though capable of knocking out the Shermans, the Type 1 Ho-Ni self-propelled guns were not available in sufficient numbers to make an impact on the outcome in the Philippines
• The Type 1 Ho-Ni also saw action with the Japanese Army in Burma, also in 1945
